Techniques We Employ for Your SPMU Eyebrows
The technique most commonly used for eyebrows involves a fine sterile blade to deposit pigment into the upper surface of your skin. It creates the illusion of natural looking hair strokes or powder look while also improving the appearance of, or reconstructing your eyebrows. Skin type is also very important when considering how semi-permanent makeup might look long term as your skin type affects how pigment appears.
Le Visage works with 3 different methods of applying pigment to your skin to give the appearance of fuller eyebrows. Here is a summary of the three methods:
- Hairstroke Technique: This looks similar to microblading in that we are creating the appearance of hair strands.
- Ombré Powder Technique: This method uses a machine to create a subtle shaded powdery brow effect, and is more traditional in nature than microblading, with the end result being quite different in that microblading creates very fine lines. Ombré Powder is often used as a background shade for brows, so it is less apparent than Hairstroke by itself and gives the appearance of a fuller brow as it acts as a base colour.
- Combination Method: The hairstroke technique and ombré powder technique can be combined to create a brow that has hairstrokes for the natural look, and a powdery effect for depth and fullness.
These 3 techniques are all considered semi-permanent makeup but are different from one another in application and end result. Each has some specific strengths and is selected according to your skin type, expectations of longevity, and desired results. Our semi permanent pigments are of a very high standard with beautiful rich lasting colours for those seeking the best results.
How Long Does the Semi-Permanent Brows Treatment Last?
Steps in Your Semi-Permanent Eyebrow Journey:
- You’ll begin with a consultation and full skin assessment to determine the right treatment for your skin type, desired eyebrow shape, and colour.
- Our linergist creates the desired shape and applies pigment tailored to your features, using a specific technique like ombré, hairstroke, or combination.
- Pigment typically lasts between 1-3 years. This depends on factors such as pigment type, your skin type (e.g., oily or dry), and lifestyle habits.
- Healing is crucial — following aftercare instructions, avoiding sun, water, exfoliants, and picking will help your eyebrows last longer.
- A touch-up is usually required 6–12 weeks later after the original procedure to refresh colour, shape and maintain crispness.
Tips to Help Your Eyebrows Last Longer:
- Use daily SPF and avoid direct sunlight to preserve pigment.
- Avoid exfoliating products and excessive sweating for the first two weeks.
- Gently dab the treated area dry — no rubbing or scratching.
- Avoid harsh cleansers or alcohol-based skincare products near the eyebrows.
- Let scabs fall off naturally to prevent uneven pigment loss.
- Do not apply hair or skin products near the eyebrow area during healing.
- Expect initial pigment to appear dark and settle into a softer tone during healing.
